CAS-ology: Balloon

Big celebration over at CAS-ology celebrating their 5-year anniversary!

Yay, I'm actually posting!! Our twin granddaughters are also celebrating. They turn 14 today! I just got my very first Waffle Flower order in the mail and these new stamps worked perfectly for their cards. Inspiration from a couple of crafty friends inspired me to try this wonderful company! A harlequin stencil and vellum balloons finished things off.

Stamps: Fruity Thank You (Waffle Flower), Birthday Wish (Verve)
Stencil: TCW Mini Harlequin
Balloon Dies: My Favorite Things

A very happy birthday to the girls and wishing CAS-ology many more years of crafty inspiration!

Hope all of you have a wonderful weekend,

Sharron

CAS-ology #180: Open

I couldn't miss posting this card on CAS-olgy this week. I thought of this stamp set when I first saw the cue word and then didn't get my card made until this weekend. Sewing Box-Hugs was one of my first WMS purchases and I always enjoy these sweet images. And I remembered that it also included this perfect for the challenge sentiment.

Paper piecing seemed like a great technique for a CAS card. I used the brick pattern from PTI's
Petite Places Sweet Shoppe. Different colors of cardstock were used and I cut the door so it would open. The green door has two pieces of cardstock to make it more sturdy.

The inside needed a tiny sentiment but it was hard to find anything that small. I finally decided on this one from PTI's Tiny Tags. The hearts are from PTI's Wonderfully Whimsical.

Thanks for letting me share!

CAS-ology: Story "Chapter 2"!

I am really down to the wire with this CAS-ology post but I just finished coloring it and wanted to include it with this week's challenge. The image is a digital one from Sassy Cheryl's Good Read-Maddie (colored with Copics) and the sentiment is from Mo Manning. I wanted to add something in the blank space on the book front and found this sentiment in PTI's Tiny Tags. It 'almost' fits perfectly! The border is a die cut from WPlus9's Sunshine Layers. I love that die set!

Hope your week is off to a great start! Maybe you will find some relaxing time to enjoy a good book!

Thanks for dropping by,
Sharron

CAS-ology #148: Story

Besides working on my 12 Kits of Occasions post, I've been working on some challenges. The first is CAS-ology where this week's cue word is 'Story'. My design is definitely CAS, something that I can struggle with at times. There is lots of white but the negative of that is it's very difficult to get a good picture.

I thought of this sentiment as soon as I saw the cue word. It's by an unknown author and I made a computer generated version. The box outline is a WMS stamp called Frame It. Do you remember when that was a really popular concept? The birds are Penny Black dies (Tweets) and the hearts are from WPlus9 (Love Birds). They are brushed with Wink of Stella and topped with Glossy Accents. I also used the border die from a recent WPlus9 set--Sunshine Layers.

I need to finish my 12 Kits write-ups before bedtime. Don't forget to check all the posts in the morning. I also have another CAS-ology card that is partly done and I'm hoping to get it posted by the deadline!

Thanks for visiting. Hope to see you again tomorrow!

CAS-ology #130: FRIEND

This week's theme for CAS-ology Challenge 130 is FRIEND! With so many adorable images, Mama Elephant was an easy choice for images to do with friendship. My card uses In My Heart. Love the sweet children and wonderful sentiments! The paper airplane elements are from Avery Elle's Airmail--another one of my NBUS stash! Thanks, Darnell, for getting me going!!

Also added to Uniko's challenge featuring LOVE and FRIENDSHIP.

Hope you enjoy! Love when you drop by and leave a note!

Friends Make the Holiday MERRY!

Here's my last NBUS entry for Darnell's NBUS #3 challenge. I'm also going to enter it in the CAS-ology NBUS challenge and Merry Monday which is featuring Christmas Critters. For this design I used another new Mama Elephant set called Arctic Penguins. Just LOVE all the sweet penguins included! The stamped sentiment is from another Mama Elephant set, Jolly and Merry which includes lots of images and sentiments that work great with the penguin images. I have no idea where I got that patterned paper but loved the plaid and fun penguin!

NBUS Joins CAS-ology!!

While my posts last year were at a minimum, it didn't keep me from purchasing new supplies. And quite a few of my new stamp sets were from Mama Elephant. So when I was looking for materials for Darnell's NBUS challenge, my Mama Elephant file was an easy choice. I am so thankful that Darnell has encouraged me to finally play with some of these fabulous sets. And since I have several new Christmas sets, I will be ahead of the game for Christmas 2015!

And what fun when I saw this week's cue word at CAS-ology. None other than Darnell's very original term--NBUS, which stands for 'never before used schtuff" Visiting Darnell's blog is always a treat--her humor and creativity are amazing!! If you have never stopped by, put that at the very top of your to-do list!

So for my card........ Aren't these little Mama Elephant Alpine Carolers so adorable? There are dies to match but I don't mind fussy cutting and like my images cut on the edge instead of having the white border. The bells and sentiment are from another Mama Elephant set, Winter Wonderland. Three sizes of bells are included. The glimmery background paper is from Bazzill and I brushed the white in front with clear Wink of Stella.

I have another card I will be posting shortly. Hope you are having a wonderful week!

CAS-ology Challenge: Magic

This week's cue word at CAS-ology is Magic. It makes me think of all the things we see in nature that seem to occur like 'magic'! Remember when you first planted a seed and watched a new sprout come out of the soil. I don't think I will ever outgrow being amazed and excited about new things growing!
Well, maybe not so excited about weeds.......

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Our temperatures have soared and we spent time today giving drinks to all our plants. So thankful that we have only a short time left before the return of cooler weather.

Thanks for taking a peek at my card!

More Bokeh!

I've still been trying out different colors using the bokeh technique that I posted info about two days ago. And I recently won this cute set, Flirty Flamingos, from Newton's Nook and wanted to make something with the sweet flamingos. I already had the background done so needed to cut out one of the birds. After masking off one of the pair, I stamped once on the card and then on some pink cardstock. Just cutting the body and head was so much easier! I used a Lil' Inker Stitched Rectangle die for the tag and cut apart a Memory Box Precious Mittens die for my bow.

I'm entering my card in these challenges.

CLICK ON IMAGE ABOVE TO CONNECT TO  CAS-OLOGY BLOG

Wow, I am really down to the wire with this one! I knew I wanted to use this image and actually made another card. But some glue issues that I tried to correct didn't work out so I had to remake my card. I bought a bunch of digital images from K'n K Designs last year. I love all the whimsical little critters!

I'm keeping my comments short so I can get this posted over on the CAS-ology blog! See my supply list below for details.

CAS-ology #44: BLOOM

Wow, almost didn't get this done in time! Thankfully being home this weekend has given me some crafty time! I decided on the sentiment first and then looked through sets for flowers. Amazingly I found I don't have many floral sets. This one is a PTI anniversary set called Botanical Silhouettes. For the frame I once again used one of my Lil' Inkers Stitched Rectangles--love those! This time I embossed it.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend! There is a lot of floral inspiration over at the CAS-ology blog so take a few minutes to add some spring bouquets to your day!

CAS-ology #34: BUNNY

I have really been struggling with craft project problems lately (won't bore you with details) but I did get this card done for this week's CAS-ology challenge. The cue word is 'bunny' and my favorite bunny stamp is this sweet image from Waltzingmouse! I love to paper piece him so today he is quilted! And the border stamp is from a set I haven't used in ages--Background Basics-Spots and Dots from PTI. It was even on my 'for sale' list so I was happy to find a use for it. Perhaps I'd better hang on to it!

Thanks so much for coming by! Hope to get more done this weekend!!

CAS-ology #22: SPARKLE and The 12 Tags of Christmas

Isn't 'SPARKLE' a fun theme for the holidays! I got inspiration from a couple of sources for my Christmas tag. I have been following the 12 Tags of Christmas with a Feminine Twist 2012 over at The Classroom at Ellen Hutson's. Teri Anderson's tag for yesterday featured twine trees--so cute! And one of my 12 Kits buddies, Marybeth (Marybeth's Time For Paper) recent cards used fun glittery candies. Thanks to both of you!

So I did a tag, with a glittery tree! The die is from WPlus9. I cut out two tag dies and cut the tree out of one. After putting 1/8" Scor Tape around the back edges of the tree, I laid twine back and forth at an angle. Then I cut a mask to cover everything but the tree and sprayed with clear adhesive, followed by a hardy dose of coarse glitter. I added the small sentiment and tied some narrow satin ribbon along with a piece of glitter eyelash trim (a little treasure that I had left over from Marybeth's 12 Kits April kit). The rhinestone star is from Martha Stewart.

Do you have exciting weekend plans? Hope you're having a Happy Friday!!

CAS-ology #19: THANKS

I used some of the leftover pieces from yesterday's card to make another quilt square to use for this week's CAS-ology. It is so easy to use this die from WPlus9! LOVE it so much!! I started to use a cream-colored card background but liked the Terracotta Tile color better. And white space doesn't always have be white!

The patterned paper is from Farmhouse's Sugar Hill and I cut the little heart from some Basic Grey's Indian Summer. The sentiment is from another WPlus9 set, Pretty Patches: Apple.

There are just so many ways to use these quilt dies. Can't wait to try something else!

Well, do you have something exciting planned for this weekend? Hope you have a great one!

CASology #16: WILD

This is my third CASology card--YEAH! I had another card ready to glue together for our son-in-law's birthday and decided to switch gears when I saw this week's challenge. I bought this set mainly for the zebra image--just love it! Doesn't the pattern from the Half and Half fit perfectly! And CAS is the way to go when doing a masculine card so this was a quick design. Well, except for getting good coverage with the bold stripe pattern. That took a few tries!
Thanks so much for taking a look at my blog! I've been short on posts lately as I have a lot going on right now. I'm hoping things will slow down soon!

Be sure to check the CAS-ology blog HERE. Remember you have until Sunday to enter this week's challenge.

CASology #15: NIGHT

I thought another Halloween card would be appropriate for the NIGHT theme at CASology! This set from Taylored Expressions was one of my first Halloween sets and I love the eyes on the spooky tree. I stamped that section several times on gold cardstock so I could cut out the eyes. The little owl is also in that set and I did his eyes the same way. The tree is done in gray so it's more shadowy---hopefully you can see the detail well enough. The card base in also gray. I liked Amy Kolling's, Stamp-N-Paradise, idea of using some chevron die pieces in the same color for a little texture. Thanks, Amy! Amy is this week's Guest Designer!
I'm really enjoying these new challenges. Details on this week's theme plus samples from the Design Team can be found HERE. You still have time to enter!

Thanks for stopping by,
Sharron

CAS-ology #14: Leaf

I am doing a CAS-ology challenge for the first time today! I visit their blog often and love all the CAS designs. Another thing I appreciate is that descriptions of features that make a great CAS design are included. So you get all these wonderful tips as well as seeing lots of fabulous inspiration cards!

Today was a perfect day for the challenge as I just received my latest WPlus9 order. Love all my new  Christmas-themed toys! You might think I would make a Christmas card but I thought this die was a great choice for what is actually more of a Spring card. The new leaf seems just right to illustrate hope.
I first embossed the leafy branch for a background. The leaf was cut with a Spellbinders die using some patterned paper. And the sentiment from PTI's Pretty Peonies set seemed to fit perfectly.

Thanks for letting me share. I can definitely see more CAS-ology challenges in my future!

Hope you are having a Happy Wednesday,
Sharron
