PDCC #44: SSSC 83

Finally back to post a card--just couldn't seem to get any inspiration of late! I combined the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge with this week's PDCC colors. When I first saw this PDCC challenge, the colors reminded me of colors from the Basic Grey Indian Summer line. I used these a lot for cards last fall and got it out to see what might work. The navy added the contrast and kraft is my neutral. I didn't have anything that could be considered mustard but, while stopping by the LSS to see the new fall products, I picked up a sheet of Bo Bunny's Back to Backs in Honey Mustard Dots. I used one side for the background layer and stamped leaves on the textured side. This is a Kaiser Craft stamp set and I like that the leaves all have patterns and are super easy to cut out. The tag is the PTI bookmark topper die. I punched slits in the top and wove the ribbon through.

Quite unlike my usual cards but it reminds me of playing in a pile of leaves on a gorgeous fall day,
Have a great week,
Sharron

PDCC #43; Card Patterns Sketch 78

Play Date Cafe Challenge #43 has these wonderful cool, refreshing colors--so perfect for an end of summer card. If you have an August birthday, a soothing card is definitely in order! This is for my step daughter. Click on photo twice to enlarge so the detail will show up. I was having a little trouble with taking the photos. I was looking around for a sketch idea and found this fun and new (to me) blog, Card Patterns. There is a new sketch each week and I look forward to visiting again.

The main image is a bird cage stamp by Kaiser Craft. I stamped it with Colorbox Metallic ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. The lime layer is cut with the largest Spellbinders Labels 11 and embossed with a Quikutz embossing folder. The patterned papers are geometric to help keep a clean look. I also inked the ribbon with a light color Copic--something I had never tried before but it is very easy and I like the effect. A few rhinestones were added for glimmer!

Supplies
Stamps: Le Chateau (KaiserCraft); Birthday Basics (PTI)
Cardstock: Dark Green (Bazzill); Stamper's Select White (PTI)
Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye, Piggy Tales
Ink: Color Box Metallic; Cottage Ivy (Memento)
Additional: Vines Embossing Folder (Quikutz), Corner Punch, EK Success Border Punch, Martha Stewart Dove Punch, Rhinestones (Lush by My Mind's Eye), White Silk Ribbon (PTI), Clear Embossing Powder, Copic BG10

Wishes for a fabulous week,
Sharron

Embellish Color Challenge: Quirky-Cutesy-Clean Style

This week's challenge on the Embellish Magazine blog is to do something "quirky, cutesy and clean". I thought I would have a problem finding something in the quirky and cutesy category but I knew I had the proper colors. I had purchased these bingo cards some time ago and thought the colors would be  perfect to use with some PTI cardstock. Then yesterday I looked for them and couldn't find them anywhere! Perhaps buying too many supplies? Anyway, I tried again this morning and not only found the bingo cards but also found this stamp. I have two Brentwood stamps from ages ago that are sadly in need of a little love! I thought I might give this to a friend who is planning to retire and loves to go to Florida. Thought the beach scene might be appropriate!

I colored him with Copics, added a little sparkle to the sun lotion lid and used plastic film on his sunglasses and on the glass. Sentiment is from a Pure Innocence set from MFT. The hint of a 'wave' is cut with the PTI rickrack die.

Supplies
Stamps: Brentwood Owl (Jessica Lynn Original); Pure Innocence Beach Bum (MFT)
Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Aqua Mist, Kraft, Melon Berry (all PTI)
Additional: Mini Bingo Card (Jenni Bowlin Studio), Grafix Clear Craft Plastic, Button (PTI), Rickrack Die (PTI), Spellbinders Large Deckled Rectangles, Copics

I love doing color challenges so have really enjoyed these from Embellish Magazine.
Hope your weekend is going well!
Thanks for the visit,
Sharron

PDCC #42: Exploring the World

This week's Play Date Cafe Challenge is using the earthy colors of brown, green and beige. Isn't the inspiration photo cool--imagine all those camels! Hope I didn't use too much green but I love green so perhaps it kind of overrides the browns!

Supplies
Stamps: Up, Up and Away, All Booked Up, Fly Away (PTI); Creative Words (Inkadinkado)
Cardstock: Beige is Core-dinations; Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream, New Leaf (all PTI)
Additional: Fillable Frame 4 (PTI), Ribbon (May Arts), Copics

There still time to join in on the challenge. Lots of fun and inspiration over at the PDCC blog!
So glad you dropped by,

Sharron

Papertrey Peeps Challenge #14

Photo from Country Living
It is my turn to come up with a Papertrey Peeps challenge. To play along, go HERE for the Peeps Blog.

I found this photo some time ago and flagged it. I think I was first drawn to the background which reminds me of Harvest Gold. I am so loving that color! For me, color is usually a major factor in coming up with a design. I love to select the colors and lay them all out for inspiration. It is so much fun to just play and change things around to get different effects. I was intrigued about ways to use 2 primary colors with both cream and white. I have seen some really awesome cards recently that use white as the accent--very striking!

So here's the challenge: Make something using RED, YELLOW and CREAM with at least a dollop of WHITE!

When thinking about what to make, I first thought of seasons. The red and yellow seemed naturals for summer and also for fall. My first card is a basket of apples for a fall thank you note.
But how about spring and winter! Card 2 is my winter sample. Something bright and cheery for a cold winter day. Hard to remember how that feels with our long stretch of over 100 degree days! I again used plastic film over the globe image. So easy to do since I found the right glue! I even used an eyelet! I have a bunch of these laying unused in a drawer. One of my first 'had to have' purchases when I started stamping. DH bought me a Crop-a-Dile too! I thought I was going to use it for everything (LOL!).
Hope you find time to play. You don't have to pick a season. Anything that inspires you will do--JUST HAVE FUN!

Have a great week,
Sharron

PDCC #41: Italian Style

While I have never been to Italy (unless a couple of hours in the airport in Rome count), I would love to go there. Everyone I know that has visited says it is beautiful. For my card I thought the mood of the beaches and all those colorful umbrellas you often see in photos would be appropriate for this week's Play Day Cafe Challenge (Italian Style)---a fun in the sun theme!

Supplies:
Stamps: Umbrellas from Scattered Showers (PTI); Lace from KaiserCraft Tea at Elsie's; Sentiment from  Pure Innocence Beach Bum set (MFT) and I used the cattail reeds image from Pond Life (PTI) for the handles
Cardstock: Harvest Gold, Terracotta Tile, Stamper's Select White (all PTI); pale aqua sheet from Bazzill (color unknown)
Patterned Paper: WR Memories
Additional: Spellbinders Labels 1; Brad from Bo Bunny and I used the PTI In Bloom Impression Plate on the gold umbrella but hard to see in photo

Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks for dropping by,
Sharron

Embellish Color Challenge (Pink, Green, Brown and Birds); Papertrey Peeps Challenge #13

Hi everyone! Today's card will hopefully make you smile! It was such fun to play with all these patterns and bright colors! When I saw the Embellish Challenge I knew I wanted to use a recent purchase from KaiserCraft. I bought the 6" Paper Pad in the Hey Birdie Collection because I loved the nature theme and thought the colors were awesome. In the pad, in addition to the paper, there are 3 sheets of die cuts to match.

And then our newest Papertrey Peeps Challenge by Carol is to use Mary Englbreit's whimsical, colorful designs for inspiration. Don't you think this is a fun combo! I don't usually use a lot of patterns and layering so this is a little 'out of the box' for me but the paper was a perfect starting place. Stamps are from Bird Watching by PTI.

Supplies
Stamps: Bird Watching (PTI)
Cardstock: Raspberry Fizz, Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss, Vintage Cream (all PTI)
Patterned Paper: Hey Birdie Collection (KaiserCraft), Bitty Dots (PTI)
Ink: New Leaf, Ripe Avocado, Burnt Umber (all PTI); Rose Bud (Memento)
Additional: Spellbinders Scalloped Circles, EK Success Border Punch, Circle Punches, Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Copics

Smiles,
Sharron
