PDCC #40: Splash of Green

I spent a lazy Saturday afternoon playing with some stamp sets that I have been neglecting. I almost sold Butterfly Kisses and then today realized how glad I am that I didn't! I didn't necessarily intend to make cards today using all the selected older sets but just played with colors and designs for fun! I am anxious to incorporate some of my new ideas soon. Seems I am always wanting something new and forgetting what wonderful stamps I already have! Does anyone else have this problem too?

Today's card is for the Play Date Cafe Challenge using black and white and a splash of green. I really enjoyed last week's challenge using neutrals so this is kind of an extension of that one but with a splash of my favorite color--green! Any shade of green will do so I chose Simply Chartreuse cardstock. Another new found favorite--I didn't order it right away thinking I wouldn't like it that much but now that I see it IRL, it is awesome! Another product that I got as a gift, and have had for ages, but never even used is a Spellbinders Shapeabilities set. I don't know the name but it has several insects, a branch and the leaf I used today. I did some samples--the butterfly and dragonfly and several copies of the leaf. Great to have on hand to use when needed. I just sponged with the London Fog ink to accentuate the design.

Supplies
Stamps: Beautiful Blooms II, Through the Trees (sentiment), Background Basics: Text Style) (all PTI)
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Pure Black, Soft Stone, Simply Chartreuse (all PTI)
Patterned Paper: Bitty Boxes (PTI)
Ink: Tuxedo Black, London Fog (Memento)
Additional: Spellbinders Labels 1, EK Success Border Punch, Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch, Pearls

Hope you are having a good weekend--relaxing, having fun or just chilling out!

Sharron

2 Sketches 4 You Challenge: Laura's Sketch #57

Playing with turquoise again and came up with this card for the 2S4U challenge! The colors for the recent Embellish Color Challenge seemed appropriate for a 'Fun in the Sun' theme and I always love using a Pure Innocence image.

I stamped the entire panel of Hawaiian Shores with a stamp from Background Basics: Retro and die cut a square out of the middle. Her dress is paper pieced with a Color Couture digital paper. The swing rope is some brown baker's twine.

Supplies
Stamps: Start the Day with Whee (Pure Innocence), Sentiment is from Scattered Showers (PTI) and the Sun is from Sun Kissed (Bo Bunny)
Cardstock: Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream, Hawaiian Shores, Orange Zest (all PTI)
Patterned Paper: Color Couture Downloads--June
Additional: EK Success border punch, Ribbon (LSS), Page Pebble (Making Memories), Glossy Accents, Copics, Martha Stewart Baker's Twine

Thanks for stopping by--I love when you visit!

Jill's Angillic Creations Christmas in July Challenge

This card is for Jill's Angillic Creations Christimas in July Challenge! What a sweet thing for her to do! Be sure to check out her blog--there is still time to play and perhaps win a PTI gift certificate! It's hard to think of Christmas in the summer but I wanted to try something new and once I got started, I was so glad for the challenge. I wanted to use part of the new Mat Stack 3 die to create an ornament and also play with using some type of clear covering.

DH has some scraps from some laminating he had done and I had saved it for possible craft projects. They are some edge pieces that are already laminated together. I did the design and cut the plastic. All looked good until I tried to find some type of glue to use. The first recommendation was Vellum Glue Dots but I couldn't get it to work. I thought maybe it was the material I was using so I called a new scrapbook store close by and she told me to bring out some samples and they would see what worked. She carries both the Glue Dots product and Helmar V2 Vellum Adhesive Spray. Fortunately the spray worked like a charm! Does anyone else have other ideas on what works for this type of application?

Supplies:
Stamps: Mr Willie and Friends (Plum Purdy), Merry and Bright Additions (PTI)
Cardstock: Spring Moss, Aqua Mist, Stamper's Select White (all PTI)
Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye
Addtional: Rickrack Die (PTI), Labels 11 and Large Circles dies (Spellbinder's), Mat Stack 3 Die (PTI), Laminated Scrap, Copics, Aquatic Splash and Lady Bug Inks (Memento), Gold Embossing Powder

Thanks Jill for the bit of Christmas cheer! Now I actually have one card ready for the holidays and what a fun way to spend a summer day!

PTI July Blog Hop

Time for another PTI Blog Hop! Seems I rarely get to participate so what fun to be here tonight. The theme is office supplies and ways we can incorporate them into our designs. Kind of a toughy for me! Unfortunately I don't have any of the new PTI sets that would fit into this category but I looked through some of my older sets to find some appropriate images. My design is my take on a sketch I recently saw on Diane Jaquay's blog--using envelopes!

I used an image from Boxes, Bags and Tags and a tiny little envelope from Mailbox Greetings. The vellum envelope I made. The enclosures were stamped with a script from Background Basics: Text Style. The sentiment on top is from Everyday Classics. I only have one PTI Impression Plate--In Bloom--and love it! I used it for the impression on new Harvest Gold (fabulous new color!).

Supplies
Stamps: Boxes, Bags and Tags, Mailbox Greetings, Background Basics: Text Style
Cardstock: Soft Stone, True Black, Harvest Gold (all PTI); Paper Company White
Additional: Ribbon (LSS), Vellum, In Bloom Impression Plate (PTI), Paper Clip, Copic YR31

See you at the Hop!!

PDCC #39

Good morning all, I was so excited last night to find that I had been selected as one of the Fab 4 for my last PDCC entry! YEAH!!

Today's card is using neutrals 'Dublin Style"and I love the classy, calming feel you can get when creating with these. The inspiration photos are from a hotel in Dublin, Ireland and what better Irish theme than a soothing cup of tea. I have a dear friend who loves tea and we always share a cup whenever we get a chance to visit. She lives in another city so unfortunately we don't get to see each other as often as I would like. I think she will enjoy this card!

I loved using this PTI teapot die to cut felt. I was able to glue just the center so the handle and spout are movable--what a fun and durable way to provide more dimension! The little teacup tag is easy to cut out and lots of sentiments are included with the set.

Supplies:
Stamps: Tea for Two Additions, Everyday Classics Anniversary Set (both PTI); Tea at Elsie's (Kaiser Craft)
Cardstock: Kraft, Stamper's Select White, Soft Stone (all PTI)
Patterned Paper: Earth Love (Cosmo Cricket)
Additional: PTI Tea Pot Die Set, Stampin' Up Punch, Felt, Lace trim, Twine, Pearls

Thanks for visiting!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Papertrey Peeps Challenge #12 and PDCC #38

Isn't this amazing inspiration! I loved it the second I saw it and to believe it is fabric and embroidery. This is the most recent Peeps Challenge #12 posted by Janice. Then this morning I saw this challenge by Play Date Cafe and knew the colors would be perfect.
And here's my card!
I used cardstock from my stash. I believe it is Bazzill but I don't know the names of the colors. I embossed with Leafy Branch, a Cuttlebug embossing folder, and then used Paris Dusk Memento ink to highlight the stems and leaves. The bird is cut with a Stampin' Up die. I used Background Basics: Text Style on PTI white and cut the bird from the patterned paper. The flowers are PTI Beautiful Blooms II. I used Paris Dusk with Sweet Plum (both Memento inks) to create the effect on the flowers. The small one is stamped in Spring Pansy (VersaMagic Chalk ink). The sentiment is from PTI Communique Curves Sentiments. Rhinestones added as the final touch!

Love these colors! Thanks so much for stopping by,
Sharron

Cardstock: Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss, Stamper's Select White (all PTI)
Patterned Paper: Vintage Blue (We R Memory Keepers)

Pearl

Papertrey Peeps Challenge #7

Some time ago Nerina's challenge was for the Peeps to visit the Creative Mint blog and select one of the awesome photos as inspiration.  My choice is from Creative Mint here. There are so many outstanding pictures but the title of this one caught my eye. DH's name is Harry so I of course couldn't pass up 'Harry's Berries'! And what a better summer treat than delicious strawberries!

I wanted to match the color of the strawberry box but my two choices were Aqua Mist and Spring Rain and IRL neither was exact so I did two versions! As you can see, in the computer photos the Aqua Mist comes across as a pretty good match but I also like the soft blue. In each the backgrounds are a combination of two embossing folders.. The large strawberry is from Green Thumb and the small ones are from Vintage Picnic. All materials are PTI unless noted otherwise.

Supplies-Card #1:
Stamps: Green Thumb, Background Basics-Retro
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Aqua Mist, Soft Stone
Ink: Lady Bug and Bamboo Leaves (both Memento), Aquatic Splash (VersaMagic)
Additional: Sizzix Argyle Embossing Folder, Sizzix Snowballs Embossing Folder, Circle Punch, Stampin' Up Punch, Crystal Effects

Supplies-Card #2:
Stamps: Green Thumb, Vintage Picnic, Background Basics-Retro
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Spring Rain
Ink: Berry Sorbet, Bamboo Leaves (Memento), Aegean Blue (VersaMagic), Copics
Additional: Sizzix Argyle Embossing Folder, Quikutz Stripes Embossing Folder, Mat Stack 2 Die, Pearls

Are you still with me? I really hope you like strawberries because since I needed several thank you cards, I decided to do a traditional color version also!!
Supplies:
Stamps: Vintage Picnic, Green Thumb
Cardstock: Spring Moss, Vintage Cream
Patterned Paper: Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety
Ink: Lady Bug and Bamboo Leaves (both Memento), Copics
Additional: Stampin' Up Punch, Mat Stack 2 Die, Ribbon (LSS), Rhinestone

Thanks for popping by!

Papertrey Peeps Challenge #11

Just back from a quick trip to Kansas City to meet my stepson's sweet girlfriend and her two sons.  We had a wonderful visit, stayed overnight and even got to sleep late one morning. After breakfast, we made a brief (1 hour!) stop at Archiver's  and DH patiently waited while I took in all the goodies!

My card today is for our most recent Peeps Challenge #11.  Nicole challenged us to do something 'out of our comfort zone' so I chose to work with a color that, for me, unfortunately falls in that category. TURQUOISE, one of this year's most popular colors, is a challenge for me! I see so many fabulous creations made by other people but for some reason I have steered away from it. While I bought PTI's Hawaiian Shores products in March, it was Heather's Peeps challenge in June that reminded me how little I reach for turquoise. I hadn't even opened the cardstock package! So after using a little turquoise for accents in that challenge and in two other cards, I decided to do something more bold!

I wanted to use the flowers in the Take Three-Summer set so I combined Terracotta Tile with Hawaiian Shores for this card. I think I like it--definitely need to try this more often!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Take Three-Summer (PTI)
Cardstock: Hawaiian Shores, Terracotta Tile, Vintage Cream (all PTI)
Patterned Paper: Thrifty Shop-October Afternoon
Additional: Sea Breeze Ink-VersaMagic; Orangerie Ink-PTI; Copics; Quikutz Embossing Folder (Diamonds and Dots); EK Success border punch; Rickrack Die (PTI)

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend!

Papertrey Peeps Challenge #10

This Papertrey Peeps challenge provided by Heather was to use the following colors: purple, turquoise, chartreuse, dark grey and white. While somewhat out of my comfort zone, it turned out to be really fun! I did have to make some adjustments as I did not have chartreuse. So I decided to use Spring Moss cardstock and Memento Pear Tart ink instead. And this was also the first time I got out my new Take Three Summer stamp set. I LOVE it! I don't have the Spring version yet but will definitely need to move it up on my wish list. The images are wonderful and the sentiment and font are the greatest!

Now, back to my recipe. All cardstock is PTI except where noted. The base is Spring Moss cardstock, followed by Elephant (Bazzill) and then a piece of Plum Pudding embossed with a Cuttlebug Birds and Swirls embossing folder. The main image is a panel of Stamper's Select White over Hawaiian Shores. I used Sweet Plum Memento Ink for the image and then cut out and embossed with a square nestability. I then mounted it on Fillable Frames #1 cut out of Spring Moss. Additional stamps are from Turning a New Leaf in Pear Tart and the little flower image in the TTS set with an added rhinestone.

Note my little flower frog--I found two of these while on our recent trip!

Thanks for stopping by!

Smiles,
Sharron

Time to Relax!

Happy Fourth of July to all my US friends! We are celebrating with a nice relaxing day at home! It has  been raining all day (pouring right now!) so it is not very conducive to outdoor activities. Haven't heard yet about the fate of the fireworks scheduled for this evening!

But thought this card would be appropriate to wish everyone a happy summer. I have been checking Mark's Finest Papers blog lately and saw that the current challenge #10 is to use die cuts. So this is my first entry! I chose 2 sets of Nestabilities--large circles and large scalloped circles--perfect to use for this Pure Innocence image!

Supplies:
Stamps: Start Every Day With Whee-Pure Innocence; All additional are PTI--Sentiment from On the Couch, Background-Petal Power, Leaves (cut outs) from Turning a New Leaf, Flowers from Wonderfully Whimsical
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Lavender Moon, Hawaiian Shores (all PTI); Elephant-Brazzil
Patterned Paper: Vintage Blue-WR Memories
Ink: Pear Tart-Memento, Turquoise Gem-VersaMagic Chalk, Copics
Additional: Buttons-PTI Hawaiian Shores, Lavender Moon; Crystal Effects

Enjoy your day,
Sharron
