A Pair of Challenges: Make-It Mondays #3, 2011 Papertrey Peeps #2

Two entries today. First is this week's PTI's Make-It Mondays Challenge. This week we are to use a glitter strip using Scor-Tape somewhere on our card. I almost never use glitter so a definite challenge for me. I only had a few color choices and those most closely matched Raspberry Fizz and New Leaf. I scored the bottom of the card at 1/4" intervals, perfect for lining up the Scor-Tape. For the main image I used another strip of Tourmaline glitter and layered the top using Limitless Layers dies. Since I have yet to order any doily dies, I picked up some Martha Stewart doily tags while I was in Kansas City last weekend.
Supplies
Stamps: Tags for Spring, Mat Stack 3 Collection, Flower Garden Sentiments (all PTI)
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Raspberry Fizz, True Black (all PTI)
Additional: Mat Stack 3, Limitless Layers Dies (both PTI); Martha Stewart Glitter (Tourmaline, Peridot); MS Tags-Doilies; MS Butterfly Punch; Rhinestones; Memento Inks; Copics; Scor-Tape

And secondly---here's my late entry in the February Papertrey Peeps Challenge. Marinette's challenge was to make a Valentine using red or pink. This is the anniversary/Valentine's card I made for hubby (we got married on Valentine's Day)! I added the touch of green because it is his favorite color!!
Supplies
Stamps: Daily Designs Sentiments, Main image is one of the PTI 4th Anniversary Tags
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado
Patterned Paper: Black and White Basics (PTI)
Additional: Spellbinder's Scalloped Circle Die, PTI Limitless Layers Dies, PTI Heart Dies, Corner Punch

Wishing you Sunshine and a Happy Week,
Sharron

Make-It Mondays Challenge #2

This week's challenge is to make a card using a vellum sentiment strip. Here is the link to Nichole Heady's blog where you can see her video. Each week there is a fabulous and informative instructional video giving us lots of chances to learn new skills or brush up on ones you haven't used for a while. I especially enjoyed playing with All Booked Up, one of my favorite stamp sets, for this card.

I found this leaf button in my box of Pure Poppy buttons. Whenever I find something unique like this, I like to use it where it can take center stage. ABU has lots of wonderful sentiments. Love this one plus I thought the curving gave more interest. The circular image at the top was stamped on some of the new Pacific Vineyard patterned paper. I really like the effect I got by stamping on a pattern. I'm still working on my resolution to withstand temptation and not buy more paper but I really love this one! I had to move it to my 'future order' file to keep my order at least close to my limit so I printed this from the 'Try Before You Buy' feature. I've never used this before but it is a great way to test new papers.

I also used a spray vellum glue that is just awesome. It is super easy--just spray, let set to get tacky and apply. You have plenty of time to move it around if needed but it holds great when fully dried.

Well, another busy week! So glad I had time for this challenge. Three days of daylily activities this weekend so I probably won't be posting.

Have a great weekend!
Sharron

Tags & Frames

Perfect Timing! I needed a tag to use on a gift for my niece who is turning five next week. And PTI's challenge today is to make a tag using a frame. I planned to use a Tiny Treats image but then I saw
this post on the PTI forum by Stephanie Ellis. This was a set that I haven't used for ages and even at one time put up for sale. But these images and many of the sentiments work wonderfully on 1 3/4" dies. This particular background stamp and 'it's your day' sentiments came in TT-Valentine. The cupcake, banner flags and other sentiments came from It's A Celebration. So glad I still have this set!

Getting more excited every day about the upcoming PTI release!!

Make-It Mondays Challenge #1

Another exciting announcement over at PTI's Anniversary Celebration--a brand new challenge is being introduced called Make-It Monday. See Nichole Heady's blog for details. There will be a weekly instructional video with info on the challenge for the week. Erin Lincoln has put this fantastic project together and I, for one, am super excited. All the current entries are on Nichole's blog or Facebook---and of course, there is a huge prize. There is still pretty of time to enter so be sure to join in the fun.

My card is using a variety of stamps. The cute circular sentiments are from Floral Frenzy, a set I haven't gotten out for a while. It is such fun to rediscover old friends.

Back to winter here today-- 5 1/2 inches of snow so far.......
Fur babies are all snuggled in blankets on the couch. Who says our pets are spoiled!

Totally Hues Challenge 1

Heather P., whom I meet through the PTI Peeps, has started a color challenge. I LOVE her blog, her style and her wonderful abilities with color. I see one of her creations and often think 'why can't I think of that!'. She does the MOST amazing things with bright, bold colors.

I love color challenges and knew I would especially like doing Heather's. But, for me, this was hard. Heather knows how to perfectly balance the bold colors with just the right amount of neutral--a definite art I can tell you. Hopefully I will improve as time goes on. After all, this is a challenge--right! LOL!

Be sure to visit Heather's blog to this a try. I also used the PTI Anniversary Tag designed by Lisa Johnson. Cool, isn't it! And since I was trying to use something in Hibiscus Burst, I had cut out hearts from the new PTI Hearts dies. Guess what, the two smaller ones are the perfect size! And those teeny images on the hearts--they are from Tea for Two Additions. The lemon is also from that set--a really fun addition.

Thanks for dropping by. And don't forget to visit Heather blog!
Hope you have a fabby week,
Sharron

Celebrate YOU!

Hi again! Here is my 2nd entry in the PTI Tag Contest. Love Maile Belles adorable image! All products are PTI with the exception of the patterned paper. It is from a paper pad by Autumn Leaves called Pretty Poppies--some more of what seems like an endless supply of patterned paper than I have yet to use! I am really making an effort though!!

Now, I just have to see if I can squeeze in another card before the deadline......

Later,
Sharron

Happy 4th Anniversary PTI!

Have you visited Nichole Heady's blog in the past few days? There is a FANTASTIC celebration going on!! There is a free set of tag images created by the PTI design team that you can download. Here is my card using a tag by Heather Nichols. I thought it went perfectly with her adorable Little Bitty Bird stamp set. There are lots of awesome inspiration projects, both for today's contest and also from the favorite 2010 stamp set post. So don't miss out--be sure to take time if you can to submit an entry for this chance of a lifetime contest. And check all the details to find out about the biggest prize ever!!!

Have a SUPER Sunday!
