Case Study Challenge #32: Spring Wishes

Another great sample from Julie Tilman is the inspiration for another Case Study Challenge.

Do you like this patterned paper? It is from Piggy Tales and I've had it for ages. It just seemed like the perfect choice for a Spring card---you know,  raindrops and flowers! Of course, an umbrella is needed too!!

Our recent beautiful Spring weather has changed to cold and clouds--even a dusting of snow today. It won't hurt the daffodils but I hope it doesn't stay long or get any colder.

Wishing you a few soft showers and lots of beautiful blooms,
Sharron

PTI March Blog Hop; Make It Monday #7

For the March Blog Hop we are challenging you to use embroidery floss in a fun and inventive way on your project.  This could include stitching, wrapping it around and tying it like ribbon, braiding, accenting tags, embroidered patterns or anything else you can dream up!
And for the Make It Monday Challenge we are to add color to non-neutral cardstock.

So I ended up with a card that can qualify for both! I started out by embossing the large images side of the In Bloom impression plate on Spring Moss cardstock. I chose the smaller flower (imagine how long it would have taken to do the large one!!) and used yellow embroidery floss on the outlines. At first I was going to sponge some color on but decided that highlighting with a Copic marker worked better. The Harvest Gold layer is embossed with the other side of the impression plate. All supplies are PTI except for the ribbon from my stash.

Enjoy the Hop and thanks so much for visiting!

Make-It Mondays Challenge #6

This week's challenge is using tricks with an impression plate or embossing folder. Here is the link to Erin Lincoln's video. I like the effect partial embossing gives and have used it many times on cards. Another place I like to use it is on tags. I added pieces of embossing on my Christmas tags last year so here are some Easter versions.
I used two different embossing folders (Sugar by Sizzix and Houndstooth by Cuttlebug) and embossed the tags either on the bottom or across one side at an angle.  Love that the houndstooth e.f. matched the circle from Daily Designs!
Images are from Daily Designs (love the little chick!). The grass is from Love Lives Here and the little flower is from Little Bitty Bird. Sentiments are in the Tags for Spring set. All cardstock and dies are from PTI also.

Happy Spring!!

Oh So Lovely

When I saw this week's Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger inspiration photo I instantly thought of this gorgeous paper. It is a digital offering called Sunlit Summer from Gina K Designs (scroll down to find). The two I used are Field of Flowers and Blanket in the Sun. Aren't they just yummy colors and guess what, they are freebies! The sketch is Clean and Simple #130. All other supplies are from PTI. The colors in my photo aren't as true to life as I would like. The flowers are a little more muted and I used Aqua Mist cardstock and ribbon which is not quite so blue--more like the TT photo instead.

Well, how's your Thursday? Can't believe how quickly this week has gone--almost the weekend again! The sun is out here (after several overcast days) and the temperature feels more like spring so Yeah!

Hope life is as good wherever you are!

Smiles,
Sharron

Make-It Mondays Challenge #4

Sorry to be MIA so much lately. No excuses, just so busy with daylily club commitments. And like so many of you I didn't own any fun foam. So a shopping trip was called for--I opted for the assortment since I hadn't decided on colors and am glad I did. I actually can see using it for other projects. The most amazing thing was how well it cuts.

I was thinking of cupcakes or ice cream cones. Then while looking through my dies, I remembered a card for one of last year's PTI Blog Hops. Diane Jaquay used the large cloud die for an ice cream cone. Thanks for the inspiration, Diane! The small cloud and the small banner dies work great. I used the Banner Builder Collection dies and embossed them with the Sizzix Plaid embossing folder. By laying them on the folder at an angle they come out as the greatest waffle cones. I started out with 3 cones, one in each flavor but decided to mix them up on the card. The Double-ended Banner at the bottom is also cut from foam and stamped with Rich Cocoa ink (Memento). Not only does Fun Foam cut like butter but it can be beautifully stamped on too. I added the Making Memories shimmer brads to go with the shimmery KaiserCraft paper. Sentiment from Everyday Button Bits.
