12 Kits of Holidays: April

Welcome to another addition of the 12 Kits of Holidays monthly reveals. As you may know, this year we are switching things up and doing other holidays in addition to Christmas but this month we are back to Christmas. Are you excited to see what everyone made? I know I am! I was this month's hostess so the kit was one I sent to everyone at the first of April. I always look forward to reveals but it's especially fun when it's your kit. I love seeing how everyone interpreted the supplies. And I have to admit I hoarded some of the patterned paper so I would be ready to CASE a few things!!!

So here's the kit!

And here are my four cards. The images came from stamp sets by Renee Mullins at Plum Purdy Designs. She specializes in tole painting patterns but a while back she turned some of her fabby images into stamps. I found her site when I first started stamping and had just started my blog. LOVE her whimsical designs and would love to see her do some more stamps! Plus I like to color. And fortunately I have a few more Copics today than back in 2009! Oh, and you might notice, I'm a bit addicted to Lil' Inker dies!

LOVE this Santa!! I used a layout based on one used by JJ Bolton in a recent Waltzingmouse Flower Show hop. Very cool!

Well, I don't want to keep you. There is lots to see so be sure to check out all the other blogs. Just click on the links below. You should find lots of inspiration; and if you haven't started on your Christmas cards, there is no better time than NOW!!

Enjoy the hop and thanks so much for sharing in the party,
Sharron

Happy Birthday, Elizabeth

Yesterday granddaughter Elizabeth was six! One of the things we sent for her birthday was this top from Gymboree, my favorite store for kids clothes.
And since I always try to match the card to something sent, here is her card! I used some Impression Obsession button dies, cut out five for each wheel and layered them. Love the embossing on this set and they work so great and lay flat if you plan to mail your card!

Tomorrow is our 12 Kits reveal so I'm wrapping up my post today. I was this month's hostess so everyone is working with the kit I mailed out. Can't wait to see what everyone made!! Remember to come back tomorrow to take a peek!

Happy Monday,
Sharron

Monday Mood Board #10

Hi all! Below is the wonderful inspiration board that Dawn posted for this week's challenge. Love the soft colors and watercolor look.

I feel like I might be cheating a bit though since I didn't use any technique for my paper! I have had this patterned piece from a pad that I bought probably 4-5 years ago at Michael's. I couldn't help but think it was the perfect thing to use for my card. Plus it reminds me of our recent vacation in Florida too!

A couple of clouds from Heartfelt Mix were stamped in the sky with Versamark. The sentiment is from that set also. And the sun from A Pocketful was stamped on half of a doily. The shells were in a Hero Arts set called Antique Engravings, a set I bought for the butterflies and had yet to try out the shells.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Our forecasted sunny day has not yet arrived so I'm able to spend more crafty time inside!

Thanks for visiting,
Sharron

WMS Flower Show #2

Hi, I'm back with another CASE from the Waltzingmouse Flower Show! Couldn't pass up trying a card using this fabulous card by Emilie Chamel as a sample. I love her card--bold colors are so festive and pretty!!

I again used Folk Art Medallion and stamped with Versafine ink in black to give an even bolder look. The center is two pieces and popped up with foam. That wonderful flower is a leftover from a 12 Kits supply kit that Jeanne Jachna sent me in November! I'm not too great with splatters on cards so, don't laugh, but I used a water stamp from Pond Life!

Don't forget to visit Claire's blog and check out all the other entries! And thanks so much for shopping by!
Sharron

Waltzingmouse Flower Show

Well, we made it home--from sunny Florida--back to cold and rainy Kansas! Goodness, spring is certainly taking its time getting here. We had hail and lots of rain last night! But Florida was wonderful--loved the gorgeous beaches and all the fantastic birds we saw!

I luckily got back just in time for the Waltzingmouse Stamps Flower Show!! I love flower shows and this one is extra fun and full of lots of gorgeous floral entries!! Several very special stampers have posted creations using various Waltzingmouse stamps. And Claire has offered a fantastic prize to the lucky random winner of the blog hop. Check out the link above for all the details. Just select one or more of the projects to CASE. There are so many fabulous choices but I especially LOVE this awesome card by Kimberly Crawford!

I used some of the same stamps from Folk Art Medallion and added a couple of others from Compact Sentiments-Part Two and Folk Art Label 25 (all from WMS). The cardstock is Smoky Shadow and was embossed using white embossing powder. The rose was made using a MFT rolled rose die. And I used Kimberly's technique for the leaves. I really like the look of stamping on patterned paper with Versamark and embossing in clear.

I actually got two cards made today, in between laundry and a trip to the grocery store! So I'll be back soon with another post!

See you later,
Sharron

Ugliest Card Ever!!

****Happy April Fool's Day****
featuring................

OMG, I almost forgot to get this posted! I had a 7:00 am doctor's appointment so my morning is a little off. Good news though--they thought I had a tear in the retina of my right eye so I had to see a specialist. Luckily that was not the case!! So except for having fuzzy eyesight from the dilation, I am fine!

When Suzanne, the card yard, first mentioned having an Ugly Card day, this was the first one that come to mind--even though there are others! It was for a PTI challenge back in 2009. Even though they don't look too neat, I do remember trying to stamp the Guidelines squares evenly. But I have no idea how I came up with this design! I guess that huge button feature was supposed to represent a sun!!

Click on Suzanne's blog link above to see more entries and you can even add your own to the list too! Just think, you don't even have to take time to create something, just look back and see if there is any 'ugly' you want to share!

Have an awesome Monday!!
Sharron
