At Last: A Card---Actually Two!

After a couple of weeks of being totally unable to create ANYTHING, I was getting really frustrated!! I also needed a card for our neighbor's birthday. So I thought perhaps CASEing would help. There was this fantastic card  that Cathy, The Empty Nest Crafter, had recently made for a Fusion Challenge. She just recently was selected for their Design Team. YAY!! I know she will be fantastic on the their team and I was anxious to try out a challenge. I loved her layout so kept with the basic design. For the sun I used an PTI impression plate then used the same Lil' Inker die but chose to create a flower and added a butterfly element for the center. Thank you so much, Cathy, for giving me a boost. My neighbor loved her card!

So after getting inspired by Cathy, I was ready to make a second card. I was drawn to the flowers in the Fusion inspiration picture--the white with large black centers--and the woodgrain background. For the flowers I used a dogwood die and Cuttlebug's Branches embossing folder added a little different look. I only had an outline flower die so I cut it out of Smoky Shadow, glued it to white cardstock and then fussy cut. The yellow rolled rose is felt.

I am adding this to the WPlus9 challenge #25 also. The colors work perfectly for both challenges!

My Version of Cathy's Card

Thanks so much for letting me share,
Sharron

Monday Mood Board #14--Lazy Days of Summer

At last I'm back and functioning somewhat normally!! Not sure what I had but hubby ended up with the same symptoms---sore throat and coughing and extreme body aches! Anyway, it seems better and I was actually able to get a card done!

My apologies to all my blogging friends. I tried to visit blogs when I could but missed a lot of you!!

Below is Dawn's latest inspiration photo for the current Monday Mood Board Challenge. I couldn't decide whether to use my new floral set or Milk and Cookies!

Our warm weather inspired me to go with the milk bottle and lemonade! LOVE this set!! The Oreos are the strawberry creme version. Do you love to see when products come out with different flavors and seasonal designs! Hubby laughs at me when I check to see what new flavors and colors are featured. I'm also the one to buy the Christmas crackers--like snowflake Ritz!! He says it doesn't make any difference since they taste the same but I'm sure they're better! Just like folded potato chips--anyone else like those?

I have the dies to match this set but decided to cut these out since I wanted to do a lot of stacking. The sentiment is from a Technique Tuesday set. It was fun playing with my Copics to try to get certain colors!

Hope, hope, hope to stay in the swing of things from now on!

Thanks for visiting!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Sharron

Monday Mood Board #10

Hi all! Below is the wonderful inspiration board that Dawn posted for this week's challenge. Love the soft colors and watercolor look.

I feel like I might be cheating a bit though since I didn't use any technique for my paper! I have had this patterned piece from a pad that I bought probably 4-5 years ago at Michael's. I couldn't help but think it was the perfect thing to use for my card. Plus it reminds me of our recent vacation in Florida too!

A couple of clouds from Heartfelt Mix were stamped in the sky with Versamark. The sentiment is from that set also. And the sun from A Pocketful was stamped on half of a doily. The shells were in a Hero Arts set called Antique Engravings, a set I bought for the butterflies and had yet to try out the shells.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! Our forecasted sunny day has not yet arrived so I'm able to spend more crafty time inside!

Thanks for visiting,
Sharron

Monday Mood Board #5

Monday Mood Challenge: Red, Blue, Cream with a Hint of Green
Time for another dose of inspiration from Dawn at WPlus9! And isn't this photo just crammed full of fabulous colors and patterns! If you haven't participated before, here is the link to Dawn's blog to find out more about her weekly challenges. They are a wonderful place for you to showcase your WPlus9 stamps and supplies!!

I found this greatl paper for the base in the Summer Fresh 6x6 pad from Simple Stories--with the flowers already printed! Great find, don't you think!! The hearts were cut using three sizes from the Clear Cut Heart Stackers. I cut a heart out of the center of the red heart and then inserted the green heart, following with a die cut button on top. The flower on the cream heart is from Mother's Day Bouquet  and the banner is from a cute little set called Banner Love. I finished with the blue bird cut with a Folk Art Florals die. Love those sweet little guys!!

Hope you are having a great weekend and have been able to enjoy some crafty time!

Monday Mood Board #4

Here is my VERY LATE WPlus9 Mood Board card! Last week I had my card done and photographed but I didn't like how the gold embossing looked so I planned to redo it---but unfortunately never got it done! So I wanted to be sure to get this posted!

Mood Board: Red, Yellow and Green
I chose to use the colors and the wonderful sunshiny mood to create my card using Fresh Picked. The berries in that set are fantastic and are so easy to stamp. The die cut jar was embossed using a rick rack die to give a little texture. And the sun and stitched rectangle are dies from Lil' Inker.

We've been buying lots of blueberries as they have been good lately--and reasonably priced. Can't wait until summer so we can have fresh strawberries again! Today it looks like snow!!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. Thanks so much for stopping by,
Sharron

Supplies
Stamps: Fresh Picked (WPlus9)
Cardstock: Harvest Gold, SS White (PTI)
Patterned Paper: Garden Variety (Cosmo Cricket)
Dies: Preserves Jar (WPlus9); Stitched Rectangles, Large Sun (Lil' Inker Designs); Rick Rack Border (PTI)
Additional: Antique Linen Distressed Ink (Ranger)

Monday Mood Board--Week 2

There's a new challenge over at WPlus9! Each week Dawn will post a Monday Mood Board photo for inspiration. Click here to find out more about the rules and prizes. I missed last week's first challenge plus the Cloud 9 WPlus9 challenge so it was wonderful to be able to try this one out.

Monday Mood Board: Coral, Navy & Kraft
I love color challenges but these were the closest colors I had for coral and navy. And my lace substitute for a lacy look is my new Trellis Die. This morning after I received an email with this week's PTI's Design Team Tip, I knew the perfect flowers to use too. I was anxious to try out Maile's coloring technique. Love the way it looks on these Mother's Day Bouquet roses! Since I didn't have anything close to coral ink, I used Potter's Clay ink on Melon Berry cardstock. Then I tried the same technique on the leaves and, for a more subdued look, I stamped green on kraft.

Ever have those times when you have plenty of time to be crafty and can't seem to create anything you like? That's been me this week! Even looking through blogs didn't help. So I spent the last couple of days watching our wonderful 14 inches of snow fall. LOVE it!!! Our bird feeders were overcrowded and the pond busy with, believe it or not, birds taking baths! Today is sunny and absolutely gorgeous-- but unfortunately with fewer birds!! And the neighbors are building a snow fort across from our house on the golf course--such fun!

Have a wonderful weekend,
Sharron
