The 12 Kits of Occasions: June with Michele "It's a Guy Thing"

Another wonderful month with the 12 Kits of Occasions! This month our very talented hostess is Michele, I Card for Everyone. She sent us a marvelous kit with papers and images suited perfectly for more masculine designs. I think we all struggle with cards that need to be more tailored, without flowers and sparkles, but still clever and creative. I especially loved the cute gull set from My Favorite Things. I even saved a couple of the gulls for leftover cards after i see what everyone else made! Thanks Michele for a truly awesome kit!

WONDERFUL COLLAGE BY LINDSEY

Love this cute little rabbit by Lil' Inker! Sorry his shiny silver frames don't show up! I added a wooden star that was on my desk, a leftover from an earlier kit by Jeanne Jachna.

My 'rock' is actually one of the clouds from the kit. After coloring it with some grays and brown, I decided a couple of pieces of grass were in order.

The "Hip, Hip, Hooray", embossed in white,  is from a sentiment set from WPlus9.

The dragonflies are colored using three shades of gray Copics and two coats of Clear Wink of Stella. Michele included so many fantastic papers that show off the images!

The 12 Kits of Occasions: May 2017---Happiness Is Homemade with Birgit

It's that time again, when the 12 Kits of Occasions members come together to share our creations with you! Our newest member, Birgit from Crafting While I Wait is the most amazing hostess! She designed this fantastic kit in honor of her mother who passed away two years ago. It was stuffed full of homespun goodness! You know--all those priceless things that remind us of coziness and home!! I totally LOVED her kit! I had to quit at eight cards but still could have made more. It's especially wonderful when things come together so easily! Thanks, Birgit, for a very special month!

I cut some Lil' Inker tag dies in different colors and added the yummy fruit!

Do you smell my cookies baking in the oven??

Who doesn't love flowers! When I had the flu recently and was sick for almost a week, my sweet hubby brought me a bunch of flowers when he went grocery shopping. What a wonderful treat--they even lasted for two weeks!

 

This was the easiest card to make. The only thing I did was die cut that trim on the bottom. Everything else was ready to use in Birgit's kit! Don't you love those cherries!!

I thought this would be the perfect card to give a friend with some flowers or a plant!

The 12 Kits of Occasions: April "Hello, Friend!"

Welcome! It's the last day of the month and it's the monthly reveal of the 12 Kits of Occasions! And I'm the lucky hostess! We each select a month and pick our own theme. I've been terrible this year and haven't sent cards for any occasion except family birthdays. That's an amazing thing to say by someone who makes cards!! So in honor of my many sweet friends out there, here are a few of my creations! 

Whether someone is family, a person we've known for decades, or a recent new acquaintance, the opportunity to have friends is one of life's greatest blessings. When looking for sentiments for the kit, I was amazed at all the options available. I knew I was only scratching the surface with the ones I put in the kit. And the sweet images and little critters seemed perfect. Hope everyone in the group enjoyed playing with this month's supplies.

COLLAGE BY LINDSEY

I love to color so the two Stamping Bella stamps where favorites!

I decided to use just the 'Hugs' die cut on this one. When I know the occasion, I can personalize it further with an additional sentiment.

I had to use this fun kitty! The happy design and sweet bird make a great whimsical card.

I added some patterned sparkly tulle to the kit for a challenge to the other members. I added some in front of the patterned paper to give the effect of rain. Wink of Stella was used on the rain clothes and umbrella.

This die cut from Mama Elephant is one of my favorites.

Some of these wonderful patterned papers could be used with very few additions.

It's fun when die cuts don't need any coloring!

Hope this doesn't seem too silly, but my last card is for my sick little furbaby. If you have pets, you understand that special friendship. They are a true joy!

The 12 Kits of Occasions: March with Jeanne "Out of This World"

Welcome to an absolutely amazing, out of this world 12 Kits reveal! Jeanne, A Kept Life, is this month's hostess and her kit was well, Out of This World! Just take a peek at the photo below. She sent us all these fabulous supplies to play with. There were so many fun die cuts, wonderful papers and great sentiments. And she always includes some fantastic embellishments. I made six cards and only stopped as I was running out of time. So there is a wonderful collection of leftovers! We also have FOUR guest designers! Please allow plenty of time for this month's hop--there is so much to see! Thank you, Jeanne, for an awesome kit and a fun-filled month!!

There were lots of opportunities for sponged backgrounds but this is my only one. Sadly, I added Wink of Stella to almost every card but it never photographs well so you can't enjoy the sparkle!

This was the easiest card of all and one that will work for a number of occasions--just a sheet of patterned paper, a die cut and an already stamped sentiment! 

Wish designs were always this quick--love it!!

The 12 Kits of Occasions: February with Michelle "Garden Party"

Welcome to our Garden Party!! Isn't this the best idea! With spring just around the corner we all are probably ready to plan some wonderful outdoor activities. We have been warmer than usual here in Kansas and I'm amazed that so much green is already visible.  A little scary too as the weather can be so unpredictable and some freezing temperatures could still occur!

But Michelle, from Pretty Periwinkle, who is our hostess with the mostest this month, put together this fabulous kit (see photo below). Just look at all the wonderful supplies--gorgeous papers, cool dies, and an amazing assortment of embellishments. Playing with all this goodness certainly makes me smile! Thanks Michelle, for a fantastic kit!!

Don't you just love the soft aqua paper! And that die from Lil' Inkers makes such an awesome background design. The little flowers were such fun to mix and match too! 

Loved these papers! The pattern of umbrellas works great for this design showing a typical spring shower. Just hope it doesn't rain on our party!!

And it's not a party without some yummy refreshments! I played with this die cut Michelle included and decided I liked it taken apart and rearranged. I did add a die cut using a MFT die for the border above the sentiment.

I used watercolors and colored pencils to color these blooms to match the bright pink cardstock.

Here's another card using some of that cool scalloped border. I had to use this last bunny too, cause I find it hard to pass up sweet critters! The sentiment above the die cut one is from WPlus9's Smart Kitty stamp set.

The 12 Kits of Occasions: January with Lindsey--"Fresh Start to the New Year"

Wish you could have seen the kit I received this month. The picture below shows the contents but falls short of how gorgeous it looked in real life. The things our hostess, Lindsey from Occasional Stamping, sent are absolutely amazing. The colors and the papers are so very lovely and I was happy to see products from some sets that were on my wish list!

We also have several changes in our group. First I must apologize for my note last month about members that wouldn't be continuing with us this year. I incorrectly said Tracey would be leaving but found out that fortunately she will still be an active member of our little group. Yeah, Tracey!!! We are all sad to lose Joyce though. She needed to step aside for now but will continue to be active with her blog as always. Be sure to visit her there.

So "drum roll", we are excited to announce our newest member. Birgit from Crafting While I Wait. Be sure to visit Birgit's blog and help us welcome her. She does wonderful creations and if you like to design with die cuts, take some extra time to review some of her older posts, lots of fun ideas!

Darnell's NBUS #8

Still having fun playing with digital images! This is for Darnell's NBUS #8 challenge. A very special one too as this is Darnell's 5th Blog Birthaversary!! It's really an honor to help her celebrate. Plus I have so many supplies that would qualify. That's a great reason to keep a New Year's resolution to not keep ordering so much! I'm really enjoying the colored pencils though and have just worked on an order for more. Supplies shouldn't count--right!!

I've used an image from Sassy Cheryl's called Gabby's Marvelous Adventure. I have a weakness for anything with books or a reading theme and sometimes buy things that then get added to my never ending stash. This was one of those! The sentiment is from another SC image. I have never used any paper but white before so this was a first.
