Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #64

For this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge I am again using my Twas the Night Before Christmas set. I really do have other WM stamps! But it's fun to get a start on Christmas and I didn't get a chance to use this much last year. Besides, I really LOVE it! Today I used part of the 'A visit from St. Nicholas' verse stamped on Spring Moss. The three images are from a Stampendous set called Santa Trio. Actually I had forgotten I even had it. I was in Kansas City a couple of years ago and stopped at a couple of scrapbook stores. At one they were having a Make and Take with this set. I didn't have time to participate but bought the set and then put it away after I got home. Gosh, is everyone guilty of having too much unused "stuff"!

I colored with Copics and used a Snow Marker to add the puff on the hat. The sentiment at the bottom is embossed in silver.

Embellish Color Challenge: Stripes

I think blue and red are great colors for baby boys. Love the soft blues and happy reds! So I opted to use this challenge's colors and stripes for a baby card.

I started with the set of thin stripes using Background Basics: Retro and then decided to add the broader stripes on the ends. The rocking horse is colored with Copics but unfortunately my selection of blues is rather limited. Wished I had an even lighter shade of blue for the horse. Hope he looks okay anyway!

We just watched one of the 9-11 specials--the one showing the video two film makers did as they were following the members of one fire station crew and just happened to be there on Sept. 11. I had seen parts of it before but it truly is amazing as it is partly filmed inside one of the towers. All the memorial services today were so beautifully done and it is especially wonderful to see the New York Memorials completed and open. I'm sure they help offer some comfort to all the families and friends. My heart will always go out to all those who lost someone that tragic day.

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #62

When I got this set out a couple of days ago to use the window for another challenge, I also wanted to use it for this week's WM sketch challenge. After visualizing what I wanted to do, the colors I would choose for my tag just didn't seem right---at least until I cut my tags in half! Both images are embossed with clear embossing powder. Because I like to wrap my ribbon around to the back, I added another backing layer to cover the  ends. I have begun to think of fall and Christmas--maybe it will help bring cooler weather!

Embellish Color Challenge: Embossed Flowers

Hi all--I am finally getting something posted! I knew I wanted to use this window image from Twas the Night Before Christmas (Waltzingmouse) for this Embellish Challenge. This is such a charming set and I'm anxious to use it more for Christmas. The window also has little shutters! I clear embossed it on kraft and cut it out. The vases are from Gracious Vases (PTI). I had yet to get this set inky so this was the perfect opportunity. They are colored with Copics and coated with Glossy Accents. The flowers on the left are also from that set and the single rose in from Tag It #5 (PTI). There are two flowers in this set that fit perfectly in the vases. The embossed flower panel is using a Sizzix embossing folder. Lots of options with this folder as it can be easily cut for accent strips and borders and well as for a full background.

Embellish Color Challenge: Coloring

When I first saw this Embellish Challenge the thing that most caught my eye was all the yellow. So I figured a yellow card was in order. 

I started with some Harvest Gold cardstock--one of my favorite PTI colors. The cupcake and sentiment are from a Basic Grey set. Copics were used on the cupcake wrapper and the strawberry with a little Glossy Accents added to create the 'juicy' look. Some ribbon and a punch-out finish off the bottom. 

Hope you are having a good week! I spent most of today helping a friend dig and pot daylilies and I have a feeling I may wake up tomorrow with some new aches and pains! Thankfully our garden is starting to come back to life with lots of green daylily shoots showing. We know we did lose a tree due to the weather stress but hopefully there won't be much more.

I'm definitely looking forward to Fall!

Make-It Mondays Challenge #26: Decreasing Apertures

This week's MIM challenge is using decreasing apertures. Click here for the video featuring Jennifer Ellefson. Gosh, I can see so many ways to use this technique! And I LOVE the effect!! If you haven't entered yet, take some time to go through your dies and see what you can come up with. I used Mat Stack 1 with two dies from the Vintage Ornaments Collection. Inside is an image from Tiny Treats: Christmas. Used a little patterned paper called Hanging the Lights--it goes perfectly with Ripe Avocado. A button with a twine bow is added as the hanger. Below is the inside of the card. I used two dies from Limitless Layers here as I needed a backing since I colored with Copics. I like the added color inside though! 

It rained here!!!! Still hot but such a blessing to have moisture.

Embellish Color Challenge: Patterned Paper

Embellish Challenges were where I first developed my love for color challenges. I did them often but then somehow got away from entering. But this is the second one I have done lately and am looking forward to doing more. I even got a shout out on my recent Nautical card--made me smile to be in such awesome company. There is always so much inspiration there!

For today's card I chose some patterned paper from Chocolate Remix (PTI) and colored all the little cream colored butterflies with a Copic marker. Guess what die I used? You got it--Half and Half AGAIN---can't seem to get away from those! The butterfly is an oldie but goodie from PTI, Butterfly Kisses. I stamped the plain image in brown and added the polka dot image in blue. After cutting it out, I popped it up and added the antennae cut from very thin strips of cardstock. The sentiment is Waltzingmouse and has become my current favorite sentiment set (love the size and awesome font)!
