"POP UP" Challenge featuring Lines

Surprise!!!---I am actually posting a card that isn't part of a 12 Kits of Occasions reveal! I have been such a bad blogger this summer! Kathy over at The Daily Marker is featuring a Pop Up Challenge featuring lines so I was tempted to give it a try. Recently I was lucky enough to go with a friend, who does a lot of tangling designs, to the school district's Learning Center. They have a huge file of large dies! We cut some to have larger images to use for tangling designs. I cut these small fish as well. This is my first attempt so I know it isn't the best but it's a fun new paper technique to play with. You can create any designs that you want. I used a 0.1 black marker. I also took the opportunity to try some ink 'smooshing' for the background. After about six tries with that, I decided to go with this one!

Edited to note I did use a layer of acetate under the frame.

I thought it might make a good masculine birthday card!

The 12 Kits of Occasions: "Christmas in July" with Cathy

Goodness, the summer has really flown by! Now on this last day of the month I am here with my July post for the 12 Kits of Occasions. Our fabulous hostess is Cathy from Empty Nest Crafter and the theme is none other than "Christmas in July". Seems that most of our members have had a busier than usual summer so it's fun to have this monthly get-together and a chance to share.

Sadly, one of our members has found it necessary to step down. Kelly, Gingham Girl, has found that her busy schedule means she must limit her crafting activities. We have loved the time she has been with us and always enjoy her incredible creations. We all wish you well, Kelly! You will be missed!!

If you haven't started on Christmas cards yet, we hope our projects this month will give you some inspiration. The photo below shows some of the marvelous supplies Cathy put together. I instantly fell in love with the wonderful patterned papers and knew I would definitely be using the deer! Thanks, Cathy!!! This has been a fantastic kit! I was amazed how the cards came together so easily. And I still have so many supplies to enjoy!

I WANTED TO DO SOMETHING SPECIAL WITH THIS LITTLE WOOD CUT-OUT THAT CATHY INCLUDED IN MY KIT.  SO TO CREATE A SHAKER ELEMENT, I SEARCHED MY SUPPLIES AND FINALLY FOUND THIS SMALL SNOWMAN IN MY STASH THAT WOULD FIT. DID YOU SEE THE SQUIRREL???

The 12 Kits of Occasions: Second Helpings

Hello everyone! We are back again with monthly posts from the 12 Kits of Occasions team. We unfortunately lost a couple of our members at the beginning of the year and decided to leave one month open so we could use some of the many supplies we accumulate from kits. So this month is our chance to do just that. You will be able to enjoy second helpings of our January to May themes. I also included cards using Cathy's kit featuring babies from December! I had them all together in a box and had forgotten that hers wasn't officially from 2015!! I think new year's babies can count though! I had many more ideas but not enough time to do all the cards that I had envisioned. But here are a few!

The bear and border are embossed images that Cathy sent in her baby themed kit. I colored the bear with Copics and then added a couple of the die cuts she included.

Here is another baby card. I did add the bunny and a sentiment from Avery Elle's Storybook set.

Below are supplies from Tracey"s Tickled Pink kit. I wanted to use the feathers and this is a simple card where I added the 'happy' die cuts by Winnie and Walter and 'birthday' from PTI.

I love how Michele used several of the images from the great patterned paper that Marybeth included with her Song of the South kit.

MY VERSION: THE SENTIMENT IS FROM WPLUS9. I COLORED THE STRAWBERRY WITH COPICS AND BRUSHED THE BERRY WITH CLEAR WINK OF STELLA.

For my last card I used a card done by Kim for inspiration. This was also from Marybeth's kit, Song of the South.

CAS-ology: Story "Chapter 2"!

I am really down to the wire with this CAS-ology post but I just finished coloring it and wanted to include it with this week's challenge. The image is a digital one from Sassy Cheryl's Good Read-Maddie (colored with Copics) and the sentiment is from Mo Manning. I wanted to add something in the blank space on the book front and found this sentiment in PTI's Tiny Tags. It 'almost' fits perfectly! The border is a die cut from WPlus9's Sunshine Layers. I love that die set!

12 Kits of Occasions-May with Jeanne: Let's Hear It for the Boys

I'm always excited when this time of month arrives. Even if I get swamped with other things, I love having some time to play with one of the awesome kits that are sent out each month. With Father's Day in a couple of weeks, this month is perfect for concentrating on the guys in our lives. Masculine designs are usually a bit more difficult and I was thrilled to see all the wonderful products. Our hostess is Jeanne, A Kept Life, and you would have been as amazed as I was to see all the goodies (see photo below). She included great stamped images and fun sentiments, a fabulous selection of embellishments (including a special gift of wood die cuts) and the most wonderful dies! I could have made so many more cards!! Thank you so much, Jeanne. I loved your kit!

CAS-ology #148: Story

Besides working on my 12 Kits of Occasions post, I've been working on some challenges. The first is CAS-ology where this week's cue word is 'Story'. My design is definitely CAS, something that I can struggle with at times. There is lots of white but the negative of that is it's very difficult to get a good picture.

I thought of this sentiment as soon as I saw the cue word. It's by an unknown author and I made a computer generated version. The box outline is a WMS stamp called Frame It. Do you remember when that was a really popular concept? The birds are Penny Black dies (Tweets) and the hearts are from WPlus9 (Love Birds). They are brushed with Wink of Stella and topped with Glossy Accents. I also used the border die from a recent WPlus9 set--Sunshine Layers.

I need to finish my 12 Kits write-ups before bedtime. Don't forget to check all the posts in the morning. I also have another CAS-ology card that is partly done and I'm hoping to get it posted by the deadline!

The 12 Kits of Occasions: April with Tracey "I'm Tickled Pink"

We're all Tickled Pink to be back with another 12 Kits reveal! Can you guess what the theme is this month!! Our wonderfully talented hostess is Tracey, In My Creative Opinion, and she sent each of us a fabulous kit full of lots of pink and spring-themed goodies.  See Kelly's photo collage above for a peek at our supplies. Tracey includes the most wonderful papers, die cuts and embellishments. The papers were such fun to play with and made putting cards together so easy. Thank you, Tracey---I LOVED your kit! 

Most of the supplies I used came from the kit but where I added something additional I added notes below the pictures. 

SUN DIE CUT USED A LIL' INKER DIE AND THE UMBRELLA WAS CUT WITH A WPLUS9 DIE. THE LEAVES ARE FROM BIGGER BLOOMS BY PTI.

SHOULD HAVE ADDED MORE SEQUINS!! I THINK THESE STAMPED FLOWERS WERE MY FAVORITE FROM THE KIT AND I LOVE THE SENTIMENT. DIE CUT 'GRASS' IS FROM PTI'S TINSEL AND TAGS.

BLUE BIRD IS CUT WITH A PENNY BLACK DIE AND COLORED WITH COPICS.

EMBOSSED SENTIMENT IS FROM PTI'S WET PAINT III.

JASMINE IS COLORED WITH COPICS.
