The 12 Kits of Occasions: March with Marybeth!

Welcome to another installment of the 12 Kits of Occasions 2015 monthly reveals! Our theme is Song of the South and our marvelous hostess is Marybeth, Marybeth's Time for Paper. The collage above was done by Kelly and shows some of the fabulous supplies Marybeth sent to each of us. There were fantastic patterned papers, gorgeous stamped images, lots of die cuts and wonderful embellishments. I loved the kit--so many options! There were several other designs that I had started laying out but just didn't have time to finish--ah, perfect for later! And I love to color so my first two cards are images from the kit where I added a bit of color using Copics. Plus Marybeth included several large tags--so cool!

Happy Birthday, Gracie!

Super busy this weekend, getting ready for some company. But I did make this card today for one of the granddaughter's birthday. She will be ten this week! They are moving from cold, snowy Ohio to sunny California as soon as school is out so I ordered this digital from Tiddly Inks, "Wryn at the Beach". And I had to get something from Gymboree so I found this See Ya tee. Three of the granddaughters are about to outgrow the sizes there. Bummer--I am so spoiled as I love their clothes!

I also used the sun from WPlus9's Sending Sunshine set and a sentiment from Lil' Inker. For coloring this time I used a combination of Copics and Prismacolor colored pencils. I especially liked doing hair with both. There's also a bit of Wink of Stella on her bag but as always it doesn't show up here.

I'm also entering this week's CAS-ology challenge. The theme is Tropical!

MIM: Doodling with Stamps

Sadly I've haven't participated in a Make It Monday at PTI for ages! But with some encouragement from  a sweet 12 Kits buddy, I wanted to give it a try. This week's challenge is "Doodling with Stamps" with a video by Ashley Newell. I played around with samples first using Garden of Life, a set that I've had almost as long as I've been stamping and I still love it. Don't know if I did a good job arranging the flowers but I'm anxious to do this technique again. It's really easy and fun! The Wet Paint sentiments seem perfect with the whimsical hand-drawn doodling.

LINK TO CHALLENGE

Couldn't believe it took me three tries to get this simple card done! After using some tape that tore my paper and getting too much glue on everything, I had to start over. Then after I got the second one done, I didn't like the patterned paper I used for the sentiment. But all turned out with the addition of some gold cardstock and an embossed hummingbird. My card actually ended up a lot better than I had planned!

The 12 Kits of Occasions: February "Bye, Bye, Birdie"

Welcome to another 12 Kits of Occasions reveal! In addition to our regular 12 Kits designers we have added a brand new member to our group. Michele Ferguson, I Card Everyone, is with us for the first time. You are going to love her wonderfully creative designs! And we are also very happy to have a guest designer. Taunya Butler, Daisies Girl, won our contest last month. We are so excited that she will be joining us for this month's theme of BIRDS! You won't want to miss their blogs!

I am this month's hostess and was the lucky one who got the bird theme month! One of my favorite activities, that both my husband and I share, is birdwatching. We plan trips to see birds and plan our garden to attract both birds and insects. I know the other designers will have some fabulous projects and I hope you get lots of inspiration. I've wanted this Chickadee set for some time and was glad to find one for the kits.

I loved this paper from Prima. There were several papers that had patterns that made great backgrounds!

This was my chance to try some sponging!

A Few Cards, Two Challenges

I've been working on a few cards the last couple of days. The first was an entry to the February Altenew challenge with a theme of "gold and glitter. I started working on a card with flowers using frames and different shades of gold when I tried a design with this very cool origami elephant. I love this origami set! I thought this would work for the CAS-ology challenge too, with the cue word of Monochrome.

Merry Monday Challenge: Candy Canes

Super busy weekend ahead with daylily meetings and activities so I wanted to get this posted before the Merry Monday deadline. I knew what I would make as soon as I saw the inspiration photo! My candy canes are green and red though as it seemed to give more contrast against the white and silver. Most supplies are from WPlus9. I used the wonderful new Sunshine Layers die set, Preserves die and Under the Mistletoe. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant's Winter Wonderland, the pine branches are Impression Obsession and the bow is from PTI's Tinsel and Tags.
