The 12 Kits of Occasions: Christmas in July with Tracey

Hi all! Welcome to another 12 Kits of Occasions monthly reveal. This month's sweet and very talented hostess is Tracy, In My Creative Opinion. She has the most amazing CAS style! I am always in awe of how she can turn only a few elements into a creative masterpiece. The theme is "Christmas in July" and her kit included lots of Christmas goodies. My hubby always says I get Christmas gifts every month but when each month's kit arrives, that's exactly what it feels like! LOVED the papers that Tracey sent along with wonderful die cuts, stamped sentiments and gorgeous ribbons & embellishments. As I mentioned, I really did love the patterned papers and they were so easy to work with. Some of my favorites are on my cards below. Thank you so much, Tracey, for a truly awesome kit!!

For the next card I used some of the tissue Tracey wrapped our kits in. It was far too sparkly and pretty to not save. I used a spray vellum adhesive to glue it to some cardstock--so easy to smooth out. A little clear Wink of Stella added some sparkle to the snowman and a rhinestone made a wonderful dot.

The sentiment below is one from my stash, Avery Elle's Let It Snow set. Wish I had a whole pad of this gorgeous birch tree patterned paper!

For this card I used the negative from the die cut tree Tracey included in the kit. I used modeling paste colored with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink for embossing. The silver glitter paper is from Michael's. The star was cut with Mama Elephant's Confetti dies.

I thought the 'Santa was Here' diecut was perfect for this little pillow box. The hat and boots are a Stampendous stamp I have had for ages, Santa Trio. I stamped, colored and fussy cut them.

Runway Inspired Challenge #63: Just Cavelli Resort

I have had a whirlwind month and a half and am hoping to get back into a more subdued routine with more crafty time. I've really missed the time to create! But I knew right away what I wanted to make when I saw this Runway Inspired Challenge photo.

One of my 12 Kits friends, Kara from KandRdesigns, is so creative and uses the best techniques. I'm always seeing something I want to try out. This recent one was using some papers that were in Marybeth's kit for the June 12 Kits of Occasions. Click HERE to see her technique for adding color to the pretty tone on tone paper (the last two cards on her post). For this challenge I chose a paper with a flower design and used different ink colors. 

This side view lets you see how the colors are on the matte finish leaving the shiny background. I used daubers with ink pads and markers but found the markers much easier to use. I just didn't have many colors! Love the way it turned out and plan to use some of my other leftover papers and other colors. The 'hello' die is from PTI.

The 12 Kits of Occasions: June 'Here Comes the Bride'

Welcome to another addition of the 12 Kits of Occasions monthly reveals. This month our fabulous and talented hostess is Marybeth, Marybeth's Time for Paper. It's June, the month of brides and weddings and Marybeth's kit included a fantastic selection of papers, die cuts, stamped images and embellishments that are perfect for anything wedding or anniversary related. The soft colors are just luscious! Thank you, Marybeth, for providing such an awesome kit. I loved how easy everything seemed to go together. 

I needed an anniversary card for a 50th wedding anniversary so I was lucky that Marybeth's kit had arrived at the first of the month. Since this was for someone who loves to quilt I wanted to add something quilt related. I found these blocks in a PTI set that I have had for ages and embossed them in gold. The sentiment from PTI's Beautiful Butterflies is done on vellum and also in gold. Marybeth included the cut out hearts that were left after cutting out this gorgeous heart that was so perfect for the front of the card. I double coated one with gold embossing powder to make it appear more like metal and added it at the bottom.

This wonderful quote below could have been a card all by itself but I chose to use it on the inside and added another small double coated gold heart.

This next card uses more hearts that were colored with Copics and covered with Clear Wink of Stella. It may be hard to see but more Wink of Stella was added to the glasses to create even more bubbles.

Love these Mama Elephant stamps and dies!

I once again double coated a die cut with gold embossing powder. Loving the look!

The negative of the die cut used above makes a great shaker card. And isn't this sweet bird couple adorable!

The 12 Kits of Occasions: May, "In the Navy" with Joyce

Hi and welcome to another reveal of the 12 Kits of Occasions. It's summer and the theme is 'In the Navy'--featuring things that have a nautical theme and can work for those masculine cards that are sometimes harder to make. Our wonderful hostess is Joyce, Cards-by-the Sea, and you can see by looking at the picture above that she sent us an awesome collection of supplies. There are great stamped images and patterned papers and those very cool die cuts. The complete list of supplies can be found here. I did use a couple of things not in the kit--two PTI dies. For this first card I used the Notched Star Banners. 

And for this card I used the Phrase Play #4 die. I just got it with my last order and thought it was a fun way to use the patterned papers Joyce sent. I also used some coordinated red and white polka dot paper that came in the kit to decorate the inside. Aren't these papers great!

Runway Inspired Challenge #60

I have been so busy with a special event our daylily club is hosting that I almost didn't get this posted for the current Runway Inspired Challenge! I am loving origami images and when I saw the challenge photo, I knew I wanted to use this little bear in Mama Elephant's Origami set. He was colored with various yellow Copic markers. The 'Missing You' stamp is from Altenew and I used a stencil to create the background. The paper is from a pad sent to me by a sweet friend last Christmas.

I have been spending time playing with different watercolor techniques and am loving the new Wet Paint sentiments. And for this time of year, peonies are a perfect flower.

Happy Birthday!!!

Hello, sweet friends! I am trying very hard to get caught up on all the blog comments I have been so remiss in doing. And I've challenged myself to post more this month! So I thought it would fun to first post some birthday cards. These are two I made for birthdays for two of our granddaughters.

This one is using Mama Elephant Origami. Aren't those little animals adorable! I selected the fox for one of our granddaughters card who just turned nine. Included in her birthday gift was an origami book. I always try to match cards to something in their gifts so this set was perfect. The sentiment is from PTI. Several layers of the die cut add a little dimension as do the pinked squares from WPlus9.

My second card is for Elizabeth who just turned seven last week. Part of her gift included an outfit with two tops from Gymboree, my favorite place to shop for the little ones. Her favorite color is orange and one of the tees has a bright summer theme to go with her orange skort.

So of course her card had to have a sun!

This is a digital image from Sassy Cheryl Digital Stamps. I used the SSS curved die given to me by a sweet friend, Kara from KandRDesigns. The sentiment from MFT was embossed in gold.
