CAS-ology #14: Leaf

I am doing a CAS-ology challenge for the first time today! I visit their blog often and love all the CAS designs. Another thing I appreciate is that descriptions of features that make a great CAS design are included. So you get all these wonderful tips as well as seeing lots of fabulous inspiration cards!

Today was a perfect day for the challenge as I just received my latest WPlus9 order. Love all my new  Christmas-themed toys! You might think I would make a Christmas card but I thought this die was a great choice for what is actually more of a Spring card. The new leaf seems just right to illustrate hope.

I first embossed the leafy branch for a background. The leaf was cut with a Spellbinders die using some patterned paper. And the sentiment from PTI's Pretty Peonies set seemed to fit perfectly.

Cloud 9 Blog Hop-October

It's October at Cloud 9 and the theme is Halloween! This great inspiration photo has so many elements that it's easy to find something to get your mojo working. 

All those pumpkins made my think of Pretty Patches: Pumpkin. For colors I chose Oatmeal, Fine Linen, black and, of course, orange. The crow was stamped, embossed in clear and fussy cut. The 'boo' fit perfectly over the hearts on the pumpkins!

It's hard to believe Halloween is just around the corner. I don't decorate but there are quite a few in our neighborhood that really go all out. I'm content to just do cards and a few goodies for the grandkids.

The 12 Kits of Christmas: September

It's that time again--time for the 12 Kits reveal! It's amazing that we are on our ninth month and have amassed so many wonderful cards! If you don't know the history of our little group, click HERE to find out some details. This month's hostess is Kara, KandRDesigns. I always love visiting Kara's blog where I can find so much inspiration. Love her style! This month she included supplies for a 3-dimensional project as well as all the goodies shown in the photo below. Thanks, Kara, for a fantastic kit!

Here is the Holiday Planner I made. What a wonderful idea that Kara included this with our supplies! It is from a template by Nichole Heady at PTI. It makes a great notebook that can be used for so many things. In the past I have used it for a daylily club program when we made notebooks to keep garden records and I helped a friend make notebook favors for her school reunion. 

I fell in love with this paper from My Mind's Eye. For my next two cards I cut the angled design apart so I could use it on two separate cards. By using the die out words I could just add a few details to complete my CAS designs.

For this next one I stamped some snowflakes on the plain cardstock at the top. The large snowflake is from Santa's Coming to Town (WMS). I embossed it, fussy cut it and added rhinestones from Kara's kit for accents.

This next card began with a piece of patterned paper. I made a mat for the die cut image and added some thickers I had in my stash to the felt banners for another quick to create card. I love when I can work with patterned paper to create a basis for a design.

Well, that's it for me this month. Unfortunately I didn't get a CASE card made! But there is still lots more to see. Be sure to visit all the blogs shown below. Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #115

I have missed some of the recent WM Sketch Challenges so luckily I have one done for this week! This great sketch was by Jennifer Holmes. One of my first purchases after I got my Cuttlebug was this set of Cuttlebug Embossing Folders. I used two of them for my squares. Actually I once again started with a patterned paper and chose colors from there. It is from Pumpkin Patch, my newest paper pad from American Crafts. The two colors are Spring Moss and True Black by PTI. Even the ribbon matches! The sentiment is from Say It Loud and I added the hearts from Nordic Spring.

Waltzingmouse Blog Party: September

SEPTEMBER THEME: FALL

It's time for a party over at Waltzingmouse Stamps!! Fall is my absolutely favorite season so I love this month's theme! And this new patterned paper just arrived in the mail so I used it as inspiration for my card. The apple and leaf images from Blessed by You were perfect. I used a combo of ink colors to match the paper colors. 'Blessings' came from Say It Loud Winter Holiday but I didn't have a WM with the word 'fall' so I borrowed a piece of a stamp from a PTI set.

Happy Birthday, Kara

Hi, everyone! Today someone special is having a birthday. I've gotten to know Kara through the 12 Kits of Christmas group. She is so sweet and I LOVE her blog---she does the most wonderful projects! Today is her birthday and we are having a little blog hop to celebrate. I hope you are having a fantastic day, Kara. Were you able to do something fun to celebrate?

I always try to do a card using something the person might like and I've seen Kara use this stamp set often. And since Fall is almost here, I created a little seasonal tree.

I used some of my new paper from Farmhouse and cut a bunch of leaves from Basic Grey's Indian Summer collection. The trunk was cut out and backed with paper and the bird was cut out and backed with some red satin ribbon.

Cloud 9 Blog Hop-September

SUMMER PARTY

Suzanne posted this lovely summer party photo for the inspiration for this month's blog hop. I couldn't help but focus on all the chairs in the picture so I chose to use a rocking chair to bring to mind a relaxing day sitting on a country porch. I think it would be so wonderful to have one of those fabulous wrap around porches! The chair and pillow are from PTI sets but the rest are WPlus9 supplies I got in a recent order. I chose a few colors from the photo--green from the grass and touches of gold and red from the table decorations.

I fussy cut the barrel and sunflowers but have ordered the dies--so much easier! This is some patterned paper from Farmhouse, a new company that started this summer. The sunflower labeling is actually part of the paper pattern. And the bow and accents really are red but show up more orange in the photo.
